There may not be an end to political killings in Nigeria unless our leaders empower the youth through the provision of jobs, making funds available for self-employment, qualitative and free education and an exemplary leadership.

Political killings and other forms of anti-opposition violence are easily achieved as a result of the abundance of poor idle, and frustrated youths, who are willing to do just anything in desperation for a token, just to survive. They are so poor that they can be attracted with a few naira notes for any job, no matter how immoral or criminal.

We have a selfish leadership that starves the nation of good education, employment, infrastructure and other necessary developmental projects in order to perpetually keep these idle youths at their service.

And for how long are we to continue like this?

For most Nigerian politicians, youths are only good for political assassination, thuggery and other forms of dishonourable roles instead of being groomed as leaders of tomorrow and agents of change.

May I warn that as long as our leaders continue to see Nigerian youths the way they presently do, they will live to reap from the seed of wickedness they have sown.

Therefore, it is high time our leaders changed their attitude to power and leadership. They should find a permanent solution to these problems, otherwise, they will continue to pay for it in one way or the other.

Lawson Alaba Bola,49, Adesina Street,Fadeyi, Lagos
