Scribe of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), Mr. Opeyemi Aminu, has described Nigeria's Davis Cup victory as a new dawn for tennis in the country. An elated Aminu told Daily Sunsport that the victory, which has elevated Nigeria from Group III to Group II of the Euro/African Davis Cup Zone II is a much-awaited dream, which has come true.

'This is an opportunity which has eluded Nigeria for the past 15 years. I give God the glory for witnessing this victory.
' This achievement is also a breakthrough for Nigerian tennis in terms of sponsorship. It will also elevate our standing in ITF ranking.

'Our expectation now is to be more articulate in our planning. The team had enough time to prepare for the challenges this year, unlike previous years and they have justified themselves with this victory."
Aminu went further to disclose that NTF would organise a rousing welcome for the victorious team, expected to arrive Lagos by 8.30pm, Tuesday, adding that the team would leave Lagos Wednesday morning for Abuja, were a reception would be held in their honour.

Nigeria's dream of gaining promotion to play at the Euro/African Zone Group II Davis Cup came to fruition in Gaborone Botswana. The team, led by National tennis Coach, Rotimi Akinloye, won their Sunday's decisive match against Namibia, the runners up in Group A.
