CAF officials for the 2010 African Nations Cup bid, Monday, visited the facilities at the National Stadium, Lagos and the Gateway Games International Stadium in Ogun State, as part of their nationwide facility tour to ascertain Nigeria's readiness to host the 2010 African Nations Cup championship.
Some of the facilities inspected at Lagos Stadium include the football pitch, dressing room, press centre, etc. Others are the Union Bank practice pitch at Adeniran Ogunsanya Street.
The team also visited the Radiology Department of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Emergency Department, Physiotherapy Department etc.
The three-man team of Abel Mbaugue, Dr. Adnan El-Guindy and Dennis Mumbue, also visited the Gateway Games International Stadium in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. The pitch, VIP launge, dressing room, mix zone and the stadium clinic of the stadium and the Gateway Hotel, Ijebu-Ode were all inspected.
Speaking immediately after the Ijebu-Ode facility tour, leader of the delegation, Dr Adnan El-Guindy, said he could not speak categorically on his impression about the facilities they inspected, arguing that they would have to tour the whole nation before saying how they feel.
'If you ask me about my impression, I would say nothing now, because we have not toured all the national facilities.
'We also have to finish touring other African countries, who are bidding for the championship before we can air our views on Nigeria's facilities," El-Guindy said.
The team left Lagos yesterday for Abuja for the nationwide facilities tour.
