ASABA - TRAGEDY struck weekend when a boat carrying 12 passengers both male and female capsized at Ogbe-Ijoh waterside in Delta State.
As a result of the incident, a search party was raised to recover the bodies.
Details of the incident were still sketchy as at the time of this report as the fate of the passengers who were in the boat when it went under the water allegedly due to high waves remained uncertain.
Although report from the area did not specify how many deaths were recorded but State Police command's spokeperson, Miss Olabisi Okuwobi confirmed only one death so far and said that the owner of the boat 'who was carrying the passengers both male and female from Ogboye water side Warri to Obotabe village actually came on his own to report to the police station about the tragic incident and told us (police) that only one person slumped and got drowned", adding that 'full scale investigation has commenced".
Meanwhile, an 80 year-old man (name withheld) of Oyede village in Delta state has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in a farm.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) when contacted confirmed the report saying that 'somebody came to report at the police station that the 80 year old man went to the farm and did not return and all efforts to locate his whereabout proved abortive and that a search party later found his lifeless body hanging on a tree at Ozowhe bush, Oyede.
We are investigating", she stated.
