Former Super Eagles captain, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha was, Tuesday in Lagos, ‘mobbed’ by a vociferous fans and football admirers, who watched him train with local players at the Sky Power Training Pitch, in Ikeja.
The former Bolton Wanderers of England captain, who has just secured a one-year contract with Sports Club FC of Qatar, trained for over 90 minutes with grassroots players on the Ikeja pitch.
Okocha, who was smiling to everybody, scored the only goal for his side, with fans going wild with ecstasy .
Immediately the training was over, fans, including local players, milled around him, asking series of questions.
Unable to bear the fans’ surge towards him and the meriad of questions, the former Eintrant Frankfurt FC of Germany player, had to be driven off in his Hummer Jeep, but not before he had taken pictures with the players he trained with and signed autographs.
While commenting on his Qatar move to Daily Sunsport before the training, Okocha said he was happy with the contract, even though some of his fans had critised the move.
According to the former Rangers International of Enugu player, the most important thing is to see that his career is not tied down by anybody.
“I would say I’m happy with the Qatar move. There is no problem as regards my choice of country. Life goes on. And as they say, life is what you make out of it,” Okocha said.
