WARRI - SUSPECTED assassins have struck in Ughelli North local government area of Delta State, killing two persons in their homes at the Maternity and Bridge Clinic Roads in Ughelli.
The killers who also robbed a sister of one of the deceased persons bolted away after the dastard incident but the police in the area were said to be on their trail. The deceased persons were identified as Messrs Orido and Okwagbe.
Luck, however, ran out of a gang of armed robbers said to be terrorizing the people at Ovu In Abraka, Okpara Inland, Eku/Sapele road, Agbor and Obiaruku communities and whose men also a police Sergeant along the Eku-Sapele Road when men of the anti-crime patrol team attached to the Commissioner of Police Crack Squad on stop and search duty, intercepted a man, identified as Andrew Odairo of Eku and found a locally made revolver pistol.
'He was promptly arrested and he confessed being an armed robber. He further confessed other members of his gang as follows: Lucky Omamuyowi, aged 26 years, a native of Jakpa; one Walter Tamarratarin, aged 23 years; one Simon Robert Idama, aged 29 years, a native of Ovu-Oviere in Ethiope East area of Delta state; one Lucky Utake, aged 26 years of Eku; one Oniovosa Ogheneroro, aged 21 years, a native of Oloro in Ethiope East of Delta state and one Nicholas Ofokpokpor, aged 39 years of Ibada Amukpor in Sapele local government of Delta State.
‘‘Odairo is an electric welder by profession and he, jointly with Walter Tamaratari, constructed a master key, which they had been using to break into people's vehicles", Ekpoudom said.
Sequel to the reports of bag snatching around Gavagina Primary School area in Agbasa community, the Commissioner said that the anti-crime patrol team attached to the Warri 'A" Division moved to the location to monitor the activities of bag snatchers on July 16.
