A senior consultant psychiatrist in the hospital, Dr. Akin Akinhami, disclosed this in an interview with journalists at a cocktail organised in Abeokuta on Tuesday for UNODC experts by the Medical Director, Dr. Taiwo Adamson.
He said the hospital was currently hosting a five-day meeting of international experts in drug abuse management.
According to him, Aro was one of the 20 institutions selected by UNODC as drug dependence treatment and rehabilitation resource centres.
Apart from Nigeria, Akinhami said other countries selected for the programme were Kenya and Egypt.
He disclosed that the hospital was the only health institution selected for the programme in the west and central Africa.
Explaining further, he said, 'They (UNODC) are going to train two members of our hospital abroad. After training them, when those ones return home, they are going to train others on modern ways of treating drug abusers
