Three people were killed on Wednesday when a truck driver lost control and rammed into a crowded roadside market in Ketu, a Lagos suburb.
An eyewitness said the driver of the truck marked KA 490 SBO was trying to avoid a collision with a vehicle in his front when he skidded off the road, climbed the kerb and crushed the victims.
The truck also crushed a Mazda car marked CY 799 LMK almost beyond recognition. In what could pass for a miracle of the year, the occupant of the Mazda, said to be a nurse, escaped with minor injuries.
The truck, loaded with baskets of tomatoes, was said to be coming from Maryland, in Lagos, before the unfortunate incident, which occurred at about 2 pm.
Mr Olubode Ojajuni, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed that two people died while two were injured.
