The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has arrested a suspected drug pusher and a currency trafficker at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
General Manager, Public Affairs, FAAN, Mr. Adeniyi Ajakaiye, said the arrests were part of the renewed clampdown on all illegal operators at the nation's 21 airports.
They were also in preparation for the International Civil Aviation Organisation audit of the aviation industry slated for November 2006.
Ajakaiye explained that aviation security personnel had on Sunday arrested a man with some substance suspected to be cocaine. The quantity was yet to be ascertained.
'As at the time of writing this press release (statement), security officials at the airport said the suspect was still excreting the content he swallowed ostensibly to avoid the prying eyes of security personnel," he added.
