FIFA's arbitration committee in its resolution handed the suspension on the young Nigerian, who made his national team debut during this year's African Nations Cup in Egypt, for signing a deal with Chievo while still registered with his former club, Brazil's Internacional de Porto Alegre.

Italian newspaper, Gazzetta dello Sport disclosed in a report that Chievo received a fax on Monday evening from Porto Alegre informing it of its ( Porto Alegre) official complaint and FIFA's ruling.

FIFA is likely to increase the ban to six months. Consequently, Chievo has suspended strengthening Nsofor's contract until the season break in December.

Africansportsdigest.com could not reach the player for his own reaction despite several attempts. However, a bossom friend revealed that the player was devastated by the ban.

'Obinna cannot talk to you now. He respects you; please call back some other time. He's down and very worried," the friend said. Nsofor played 26 matches last season for Chievo scoring six goals, four from penalty spot.

He scored his first international goal for Nigeria against Tunisia during the African Nations Cup. Chievo officials believed that Nsofor's agent played a fast one on them as there was no record indicating that the player was a registered member of Brazilian club, Alegre.

He was presumed to have been transferred from former African champion, Enyimba FC of Nigeria to Chievo. The latest revelation has stalled his planned move to Inter Milan which was almost wrapped up on Tuesday in Italy.
