Armed robbers in Ondo State recently defiled the house of the Lord when they attacked two churches during their all night vigil service.
The men of the underworld, who attacked one of the churches(names withheld) at Fanibi area, off Ondo road, killed a night guard, raped two girls and carted away thousands of naira as well as mobile phones.
The pastor of one of the churches, it was learnt, sustained serious injuries as he was said to have fallen into an uncompleted septic tank while trying to escape.
The robbery attack, which occurred around 4am and lasted for 20 minutes each in the two churches, left some church members in pains and series of injuries as there was stampede.
Daily Sun investigations revealed that the robbers shot the guard at one of the churches because they believed he had a gun. The girls raped by the hoodlums were alleged to have worn dresses exposing their bodies.
The pastor of one of the churches who denied the robbery incident in his church, said that the church's vigil commenced 12am and ended by 3:20am. He, however, admitted that some people rushed to his church to alert him that robbery was going on at another Church.
A members, who attended the vigil and sought anonimity, confirmed that robbers, numbering four attacked the church that day and raped two girls.
The General Overseer of one of the churches, was not around when Daily Sun visited, but one of the church leaders, who refused to mention his name, referred Daily Sun to the police, saying that the case had been reported to the police.
