The police have made fresh arrests in the high profile murder of Hajiya Sa'Adatu, wife of former Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Rimi, assassinated in their family house over six months ago.
Prosecution counsel in the case, DSP Ibrahim Bako, however, said a lot of people would be shocked by the time the police reveal outcome of its investigation in two week's time, adding that the arrests were made two days ago.
He, however, refused to disclose the names of the arrested suspects, saying it might hamper investigation.
At yesterday's sitting, seven out of the 14 persons facing trial over the murder did not appear, as they were in Abuja for further investigations after the case appeared to have taken a new dimension with the recent arrest.
Bako, however, told the court that the decision of the police to take the ssuspects to Abuja for what he called 'rigorous interview session," was sequel to the advice of the state Attorney-General.
The Principal accused person, Alhaji Aminu Babba DanAgundi, the deposed Sarkin Dawaki Maituta, was, however, not among the seven persons taken to Abuja for further questioning.
Meanwhile, the presiding judge has said he would not order sfurther remand of the accused persons if the police fail to conclude investigation before the 90 days limit that the Constitution stipulates.
