PORT HARCOURT - THE crisis in Bodo, one of the communities in Ogoni area of Rivers State intensified yesterday with one of the warring parties allegedly disarming a Policeman of his AK 47 riffle.

A community source told the Vanguard that the incident happened very close to the residence of the traditional head of the area.

The source suggested deployment of more Police troop to the area because those on ground appeared to be helpless adding that the warring cult groups had taken over the town and were freely brandishing their weapons.

'One of the policemen drafted to quell the situation was disarmed of his riffle before the eyes of all. It happened very close to the residence of the traditional head.
‘‘The Police seem helpless. They are only watching the situation. At about 2pm on Sunday you could hardly see anybody in town. No soul on any major street. There is need for the Police to deplore more troop to save the situation"

It could not be confirmed if the Police later recovered the riffle because effort to speak with the Police PRO, Mr. Ireju Baresua, in Port Harcourt on the incident failed.
It would be recalled that residents and natives started fleeing the area weekend after five persons were reportedly killed in the cult clash.
