Rivers State has suffered another setback with a fresh communal crisis between Emuoha and Ogbakiri communities where six lives were lost, while it is still battling to control the Ogoni cult clashes, where casualties have risen to eight.
The clash, which started early yesterday, was said to have made the people to flee the area, especially Emuoha town where the tolls were higher.
The attack, which a source at Emuoha alleged was a reprissal and spill over from a clash in 2005, led to the invasion of the town by Ogbakiri.
Another source from the town said Dewell cult group allegedly stormed Emuoha in the early hours of Saturday, and shot six members of Degbam cult group dead.
"It was a terrible sight to behold, the sound of automatic weapons tore through the night and by early morning when we inquired, we learnt that the Dewell group stormed the town to avenge the death of their members in a previous clash."
When contacted, State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Ireju Barasua, confirmed the story, but said she lacked details, adding that MOPOL 19 have been deployed to the area in addition to other security measures.
