A seven man disciplinary committee to look into the allegations leveled against the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Fred Agbadi and woman leader, Mrs. Helen Inafa-Bob has been set up.
The committee has Chief Diekivie Okulovie Obhoo- Chairman, Mr. Diepreye Thom-Okoro - Secretary while Chief Ombu Aleke, Chief Rufus Abadi, Mr. Pere Kpodoh as well as Chief Kune Igoni and Sylbriks Obriki are to serve as members.
The decision to set up the committee was taken at an emergency state executive committee in Yenagoa.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Peremobowei Ebebi, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr.Seibarugu Werinipre, his deputy Chief Bright Erewari, as well as the Chief Whip, Chief Robert Enogha, council chairmen and their vice and other party stalwarts.
The committee has fourteen days to complete its assignment.
In a statement issued at the end of the meeting, the Publicity Secretary of the Party, Mr. C. A. Iteidu said the meeting also ratified and affirmed the decision of the State Working Committee for suspending the two officers.
According to Mr. Iteidu this was the first time the State Executive Committee was meeting since its inauguration in November 2005, to examine political developments in the state especially as they affect the cohesiveness and integrity of the party.
He called on all party supporters, and leaders to continue to support the leadership of the party to provide a level playing field for all aspirants to offices in the 2007 elections.
Leaders of thought and PDP members in Ekeremor local government area have expressed disappointment over what they called the illegal and unconstitutional behaviour of the suspended PDP Chairman, Mr. Fred Agbedi and Pastor Atema.
The two were said to have participated in a rally in honour of a governorship aspirant in the state, which took place at Igbainwari town, Opokuma clan in Kolokuma/Opokuma local government area.
According to a statement, which was endorsed by over twelve party stalwarts from the area, it described the act of the suspended chairman as a betrayal of the confidence reposed in them as principal officers of the party.
The statement said the officers displayed total disregard for the PDP constitution which emphasize that party officials should provide a level playing ground for all aspirants in line with the principles of democracy, noting that their action was incompatible with the collective interest of the PDP.
The party members dissociated themselves from the action of the two officers and called on the state and national executive councils of the party to discipline the officers for what they alleged as gross misconduct.
