A religious group has decided to embark on a rally in order to enthrone peace in the state.
The body known as Emmanuel Evangelistical Association (EEA) will hold its first ever 3-dy prophetic declaration of peace in Okrika from July 28, 2006.
This was disclosed when the President of the association, Evangelist Emmanuel Rowlands held an interactive session with newsmen in his office along Victoria Street, Port Harcourt on Monday July 17, 2006.
Evangelist Rowland stated that the theme of the rally is the restoration of peace and destinies, pointing out that the event is targeted at the youths who have been traumatized by the large-scale violence that lasted over five years in the land.
The E.E.A President maintained that youths as the live wire of every society needed to be groomed to live up to their responsibility and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the society. He lamented the manner in which the youths were engaged in the wanton destruction of lives and property in an unnecessary manner. Evangelist Rowland contended that such violent groups were sponsored by mischief makers for selfish reasons.
The E.E.A. president who maintained that he was called by God to preach peace said the event will achieve a prophetic declaration of peace in the land. He expressed confidence that the event will deliver the kingdom of Okrika from violence and emancipate the youths from unwholesome drives and assured that it will restore their wasted years and relocate them to their proper place in destiny.
Evangelist Rowland stated that the target was the average youth of the state starting with Okrika. He warned those who hire the youths into evil practices of dire consequences, and called on every youth to seize the opportunity to start a new beginning.
According to him, "Our main vision is the Rivers youths but we want to start from Okrika. We want to give them the knowledge and re-orientation to rethink and make a positive change. The youths have been abused a lot but I have been sent by God to show them the right way and there's going to be a total recovery".
