In order to conduct the proper assessments of the quality of personnel and infreastructural facilities at the Rivers State College of Arts and Science (RIVCAS) so as to accredit the courses offered in the institution for the award of National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND), the Resource Inspection Visitation Team from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) Kaduna, has visited RIVCAS.

While presenting his welcome address, the RIVCAS Provost, Sir Ikechi Nwogu expressed the staff and students' gratitude to the visiting team, expressing optimism that the visit would change the status of the institution for the better.

Dr. Ikechi, who urged the visiting team to motivate the college to touch on the lives of the youths through educational training for equipping and empowering the nation's economic growth, said, "what has been missing is formal accreditation of courses offered and the elevation of the college to a proper and befitting status of tertiary institution".

He told the team of his school's preparedness to contribute her quota in the quest for a better society through the training, equipping and empowering the youths, adding "I am persuaded to believe that your visit presents a special opportunity to anchor our hope of enjoying not just the status of a tertiary institution, which we are, but to further propel us to take responsibility for the future of both our staff and students...."

Responding, the interim NBTE Team Leader, Architect A. O. Aimola expressed profound appreciation for the hospitality accorded them by RIVCAS, which according to him started with the monitoring of their arrival and welfare through phone calls, while on the road to Port Harcourt.

He said NBTE was in the state as a manifestation of partnering with RIVCAS to enlarge the educational frontiers of Nigerians in Rivers State, pointing out that the essence of advisory visitation is to identify structures and personnel to carry the programmes for reasonable actualisation.

During the facility tour, the RIVCAS Provost showcased the school's Internet facilities, computer centre, theatres and laboratory and management resource centres, which have fascinated the team.
Also on the team are Professor Emenike Wami, former Dean of Graduate Studies, RSUST, Nkpolu, Port Harcourt, Engr. J. O. Falude, Godwin Okpe, Messrs b. N. Niriyus, A. I. Ifejika, J. S. Aboi and Abba Danmowa.
