A massive manhunt for those who were behind last weekend's disturbances in Okrika has begun.
The police swung into action soon as the situation in the area came under control.
Government had ordered the army to move into Okrika immediately it got credible information suggesting that some persons believed to be members of the Vigilante and the Bush Boys might have decided to torpedo the fragile peace which currently exists there.
Insiders in government, angry at the development, hinted there would be no sacred cows.
Said a top security operative, "Any one found to be involved in the disturbance would be made to face the full weight of the law".
Government's position on the situation in Okrika, we understand, may have been communicated to the police.
A police source confirmed the police is spreading their dragnet in a bid to apprehend the said trouble makers.
"We will get to the bottom of this", the source said, "Every one connected with the problem will be railed in".
many from the area remain perplexed by the turn of events, with some wondering what would have become of the oath-taking which was widely publicized and described as the ultimate solution to the Okrika debacle.
We have heard that some top politicians in the area may have tried to frustrate the move to get the police to move in and arrest suspects.
The way things are, the police aren't succumbing as their men fan out and the manhunt begins in search of those who chose to murder sleep.
