A robbery attack has reportedly taken place in the Island town of Bonny local government area.
Unconfirmed reports said the incident may have resulted in the lost of both lives and cash.
Sources in Bonny said it was a daylight incident, which occurred about 11:15am leaving people to scramble for safety, while business outfits including markets were deserted.
The heavily armed attackers are believed to have traced officials of the All States Trust Bank from Port Harcourt where the money was withdrawn.
We learnt that the boat driver noticed danger somewhere into the journey and diverted his course.
The action is believed to have paid off initially as the robbers could not catch up with them in the sea.
However, the bandits traced their way to the bank where they immediately went into action through indiscriminate gunshots and harassment.
It was learnt that huge sums of money was carted away, while one or two lives were cut short by bullets of the bandits in the operation.
No fewer than ten persons among them customers and officials who were in the bank at the time of the attack also sustained injuries.
Our source said the police arrived late after the flashy operation. The branch manager of the affected bank also refused to comment on the incident when reporters called on him
