ADO EKITI - EKITI State Government has allayed the fear of Ado Ekiti natives that it plans to remove the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe Aladesanmi, saying the governor's warning was not targetted at the Ewi
Speaking against the backdrop of the rumour making round in the state that the state government was planning to remove the Ewi, Oba Adejugbe, who has been having a running battle with Governor Ayodele Fayose for some time now, the state Commissioner for Information, Mr Gboyega Oguntuase, told newsmen in Ado Ekiti yesterday that the rumour was not true.
Oguntuase, however cautioned the monarch not to do anything that may work against the interest of the government in power, since according to him, nobody was above the law of the land
The Commissioner who was commenting on the Governor's warning on Monday during a rally organised by the supporters of the Governor explained that the Governor's warning was a clarion call, which, according to him, should be taken seriously by the people of the state, especially public office holders
"This is a call to order, which should be taken seriously, the Governor said his warning affects public office holders including the Commissioners and traditional rulers.
"When someone is using metaphor, it is better to get the message clear, I believe no Oba is lawless in this state. As a matter of fact, the Governor's statement was not targeted at Ewi." Oguntuase further declared.
Meanwhile, the state government has set aside N100 million to tap electricity from the two neighbouring states of Osun and Kwara states to Ekiti.
