WARRI - NATIONAL Association of Itsekiri Graduates (NAIG) has urged the management of Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) to revisit the suspended 2002 graduate employment process. The association however expressed disappointment and disenchantment over Chevron's unilateral suspension of the exercise as it affects Itsekiri graduate while candidates of other tribes have been engaged.

The umbrella Itsekiri graduate body stated further that after 4 years of a rigorous screening exercise 'management callously decided not to invite the few successful Itsekiri graduates," lamenting that 'NAIG has it on good record that our counterparts from Lagos and Port Harcourt have since been duly employed by Chevron without equivocation."

In a petition addressed to the General Manager, Public Affairs, CNL, Mr. Femi Odumabo and made available to newsmen in Warri, yesterday, NAIG stated that 'this act is nothing short of injustice and marginalisation of the Itsekiri nation", stating that while they believe in the concept of the rule of law as well as dialogue as a veritable tool for conflict resolution, they will not fail to resort to the use of force, noting that 'from experience Chevron seem to have an affinity for confrontation in-lieu of being pro-active".

The petition signed by Mr. Tony Omabuwa and Davis Iyonmireju, president and secretary respectively listed the names of 25 persons that are already in service from other parts of Nigeria who sat for the screening exercise with the Itsekiri successful candidates.
