OWERRI - THE authorities of Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri has warned that it would not look kindly on any lecturer found to be sexually harassing any female student or any staff that aids or abets fraud in any form.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Chuka Innocent Okonkwo, read the riot act while speaking with newsmen in Owerri." All cases of alleged sexual harassment are viewed seriously. My administration will not look kindly on any lecturer that sexually harasses or intimidates any student of the institution. The measure of treatment awaits any staff found to be engaging in any manner of fraudulent act", Okonkwo said.

Explaining the reasons why an IMSU lecturer recently resigned, the Vice Chancellor said the man was unable to update his academic qualifications since the University engaged him. ''I am aware that somebody recently resigned his appointment. Available facts proved that he could not update himself academically since he was engaged, not as a lecturer but a tutor. I would not say that theUniversity gave him a soft landing as touted in some quarters", Professor Okonkwo said.

Explaining the admission policy of IMSU, he explained that 60 percent of the entire fresh intake is allotted to successful candidates from all over the country on merit, while another 20 percent is shared to the 27 local government areas of Imo State, again on merit.
''Ten percent of the entire admission is set aside for staff interest and another 10 percent for concession to the public", Okonkwo explained.
