Governor Joshua Dariye of Plateau has directed that owners of cars with tinted glasses be arrested as part of security measures to solve the recurring problems of assassinations.

Dariye gave the order at the weekend when he paid a solidarity visit to the Commissioner for Land and Survey, Chief James Barry, who escaped an assassination attempt in his home on July 13 in Jos.

He said: 'security operatives will enforce the new law which can curb the activities of hoodlums, robbers and assassins."

The governor expressed dismay over the recent spate of attacks on people in the state and described the phenomenon as strange.

He said assassins would not achieve their ambitions and gave an assurance that the security operatives were committed to bringing an end to the ugly trend.

The police, he said, had resolved to apprehend the perpetrators and bring sanity back to the state.

No fewer than four governorship aspirants, including Barry, have been attacked by gunmen in the last five weeks with one of them, Chief Jesse Aruku, being assassinated.
