Over N2.5 billion changed hands on equities Tuesday on the Lagos floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) just as the market index slid.

The investors grabbed 19 7.3 million shares valuing N2.69 billion in 8,490 deals. This was more than 50 million shares above the previous day's figure of 140.6 million shares worth N2.012 billion.
The banking sub-sector remained a chart buster as it pooled 136.3 million shares worth N1.78 billion sealed in 5,387 deals to top the activity chart.

The All-Share Index scaled down by 0.06 points to close at 25,920.68 points while the market capitalisation fell from N2.937 trillion to N2.931 trillion.
Mobil gained 201 kobo to lead the gainers, closing at N164.01. Okomu Oil, 7Up, Zenith Bank and Nestle followed the oil stock with 139 kobo, 124 kobo, 89 kobo and 80 kobo in that order to close at N29.32, N35.25, N21.40 and N196 respectively.

Other gainers were CAP, RT Briscoe and Diamond Bank with 54 kobo, 27 kobo and 24 kobo to close at N11.54, N5.74 and N5.13 respectively. The rest were GSK and NAMPAK with 18 kobo and 12 kobo closing at N10.28 and N2.71 respectively. Guinness topped the losers with 400 kobo to close at N109 while Flour Mills, NB, Union Bank and First Bank trailed it with N37.96, N34.68, N30.40 and N51 respectively. Conoil, Julius Berger and Ashaka Cement dropped 149 kobo, 126 kobo and 110 kobo closing at N77.01, N24.02 and N37.90 respectively. NBC and Cadbury shed 101 kobo and 100 kobo to close at N50 and N55 respectively.
