National Dialogue, trick to avert revolution‘

As the proposed National Political Reform Conference continues to generate mixed reactions, the Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU),of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, Dr. Namwal Voncir has said that, the exercise was a calculated attempt by President Olusegun Obasanjo to avert an imminent revolution.

Voncir, in an interview with newsmen in Bauchi, stated that the proposed dialogue scheduled to kick off Monday was motivated by the fear by the political class that, "the country is going to slip off from them. They believe there will be a revolution. So they want to avoid it because it is going to sweep them very bad".

The ASUU leader stated further that the frantic effort and support given by the political class towards it were cosmetics approach to gain support of Nigerians so that their sins and the injustice they committed against the Nigeria state would be forgiven.
"See the list. It is the same people that have been wrecking this country, and they are the ones who are almost going to their graves telling us they want to restructure Nigeria for us to stay inside? Nigeria is no more their own" he said.

On the view that the delegates are men with vast experience, the ASUU scribe believes that, "there is nothing left to tap from their experience."
In his view, the National Political Reform Conference is an avenue for the political class to fight for regional autonomy so that, "they can now still go back and be lords with their children" while the status quo remains.

According to him, "Obasanjo will never want his son to come back and be like me. Neither will Atiku, neither will Don Etiebet or Balarabe Musa. All of them belong to the same class and there is nothing like trying to restructure the country."
"They have packed all their children into government as either ambassadors, Special Advisers or Ministers. All these crooks. When will I become a Minister? I don't have a godfather neither will I want to be a godson to anybody. So I have no hope of being a Minister in this country".

He predicted that the National Dialogue would be another "jamboree" yet again for the political elite to squander tax payers money, saying that the N923 million set aside for the exercise would be more useful if used to provide water to more communities.
