The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Imo State on petroleum, Chief Eddy Olumba has said that the most important quality that makes Governor Achike Udenwa qualified for the No 1 position in the country is his security policy.
Chief Olumba who spoke to the Telegraph a few days ago, said it is second to none in the country, especially as security is nothing to write home about in other states of the federation. " in terms of infrastructure, anybody who has been in the state for the past seven years will agree with me that the man has done a lot in infrastructural development. I don't want to start mentioning structures. You press men are aware, you know everything. Even if any governor equals him in infrastructure, his security policy is something else".
Speaking further on why Udenwa whom he said is 150% qualified should be the next president, the Executive Assistant maintained that the man is educated, peaceful, humane, and down to earth. He advised politicians in the state to be loyal to the governor since he is the leader of the PDP in the state, so that he will peacefully handover power to them since the governor is the boss or head of PDP in the state. "if you are in PDP you are under him, no matter where you are. You should do obedience to him, so that those under you will do obedience to you".
Olumba who is the governor's in law and one of the most influential officers in the Udenwa administration is also interested in the chairmanship position of Orlu LGA, which is incidentally the home LGA of the governor. He had run for the same chairmanship position in the past, but had to withdraw because of the governorship ambition of Chief Udenwa which might run counter to his. "But now that he is going out from that system, I will run. Some of the LGA chairmen are there for self aggrandizement. I want to use it as a stepping stone for future. I would also like to be the president of this country like Udenwa is going to be."
He also spoke about the recent EFCC invitation of local government chairmen from Imo state. "They went to give account of their stewardship. But those who are bad should be treated the way they treated the funds of their local governments. That should be an eye opener to those of us that are running for that position, that they are going there to serve and not to acquire money. Mine is going to be service to the people. I will give them those things they don't have, such as good education, good health care, good roads, ensure security and make everybody to be somebody".
