Leader of the Niger Delta People's Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Alhaji Mujaheed Asari-Dokubo, has apologised to Governor Peter Odili over the attack on his convoy by some members of the group.
Asari-Dokubo, who was in Government House, in connection with the incident, told Daily Sun that his boys' behaviour was condemnable because they were expected to have left the road on hearing the siren of the governor's convoy.
He revealed that he saw the convoy earlier and left the road, wondering why his boys should not leave the road on sighting the convoy.
"It was wrong for them not to have stopped. We passed the governor's convoy along Obuama in Degema LGA, and I left the road with my Hummer Jeep. I think they are wrong and I have condemned it right from the beginning that they are wrong. I don't think what happened will repeat itself. It is unfortunate and condemnable", the warlord said.
"We are sorry that the incident happened," he added.
On the charms found on his boys, he said they were not charms but common features of an Ijaw person, as an Egbesu sign. He also denied that the boys were cultists.
He blamed some persons for trying to frustrate the peace process reached with the authorties, saying that he was committed to the peace process as shown by his surrendering more weapons totalling over 1,000 to the state.
It would be recalled that some boys, believed to be members of the NDPVF, had attempted to hit Governor Odili's official vehicle while he was returning from Degema LGA.
