AUTHORITIES of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma in Edo State, have dismissed three of its lecturers for acts of gross misconduct.

AUTHORITIES of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma in Edo State, have dismissed three of its lecturers for acts of gross misconduct.

The dismissal notice was contained in the institution's news bulletin made available to newsmen, recently.

According to the bulletin, 'the institution also expelled eight students and suspended five for acts of gross misconduct and breach of matriculation oath.

Most of the expelled students were in their final year. The bulletin also announced the restoration of two expelled students of the institution.

In another development, an Enugu High Court has ordered a ‘trial within trial' of a case of rape against three police officers, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) James Utong, Constables Manue Effion and Usip Asuquo.

The three have been standing trial for allegedly raping three students of Enugu State University of Technology (ESUT), Enugu.

When the case came up for hearing on Friday, the second accused told the court that the statement which was purportedly made by him was actually written by the prosecuting Police Officer, Mr. Eze Williams.

He alleged that the prosecuting officer told him to sign the statement on the pretex that he would be released in court.
