What have you that God did not give to you? It is naïve to think other wise. It is only the foolish that believe his prowess/wisdom brought him stupendous wealth and fame.
Whatever that you are today, remember that God made it possible. Your wealth, God gave it. Your fame, God gave it. You chain of businesses God gave all to you.
Your handsome/rich husband, God gave him to you. Your beautiful wife and daughters - God gave them to you. What do you have that was not given to you by God. Power to make wealth is God's given. Political power is God's also.
David the sweet Psalmist was rich and powerful. He was not moved by his wealth. Said him in Psm. 30:16: "And in my prosperity I said I will never be moved." He used the word "NEVER." He swore never to be moved by wealth and political power.
He remained himself. He used his wealth and political power for the overall good of the people. He catered for the rich, poor, the powerful and weak. "And everyone that was in distress and everyone that was in debt, and everyone that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him, and he became a captain over, men." I Sam 22:2.
There are so many Christians who no longer remember God. They no longer have time for the things of God. They prefer to worship their wealth than to fellowship with God. They prefer to sit down at home on Sundays to receive visitors, wine, dine and relax in cozy homes. They do not ever bother to cater for the poor and needy.
"The race of life is not to the swiftest, nor the battle to the strongest" Ecc. 9:11. The race is for those who possess divine secret on how to stay on course. Job discovered divine secret (Job 29:4) which kept him on course during his travails.
The more divine secret you can access the more result you will get. In John 15:5, Jesus said "without me you can do nothing. Jesus came with the anointing from heaven yet he could not do without God the Father.
"I can of myself do nothing" said the Lord Jesus Christ John 8:28. Apostle Paul, a man of unusual zeal and wit said "I am what I am by the grace of God" I Cor. 15:10. Your spiritual bearing is very important. It is vital to your life pursuit and success.
Let God be the focus of your existence and take the centre of your being. Whatever you are today it is the Lord that has done it for you. "Except the Lord build the house they labour in vain that build it. Except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. Psm. 127:1-2.
In His parable of the rich fool, Jesus Christ warned that we should take heed and beware of covetousness for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. And he spake a parable unto them saying, the ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully "And he thought within himself, saying, what shall I do, because I have not room where to bestow my fruits?
"And he said, this will I do, I will pull down my barns, and build greater barns and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
"And I will say to my soul, soul, thou has much goods laid up for many years, take thine ease eat, drink and be merry.
"But God said unto him, thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be which thou hast provided.
So is he that layeth up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God" Do not forget your creator. Do not cling to material wealth. Do not replace God with riches.
Remember to make the Lord Jesus the centre piece of your life, "for when you shall have closed your eyes to this sinful world you will not bother what shall be after your exit." Ecc. 3:22.
