Barely 48 hours after the newly posted Resident Commissi- oner of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Akwa Ibom Stat, Mr. Solomon Soyebi had assumed work; armed robbers reportedly raided the Commission's office leaving a Police Inspector on duty seriously wounded and an unspecified amount of money carted away.
THISDAY gathered that the robbers numbering about ten invaded the INEC State Secretariat situated along Udo Udoma Road at about 1.00am and left three hours later after thoroughly ransacking major departments of the commission.
Sources told THISDAY that the robbers over-powered and tied the security guards of the commission and shot the policeman on duty.
During the raid about eight offices or units including the INEC Commissioner, account, administrative, HOD operations, media relations offices of the commission were broken into and ransacked.
An unspecified amount of money and other valuable items were reportedly carted away by the hoodlums.
