Ateke who spoke exclusively to the Telegraph at the weekend said the allusions were totally false.
Said he, "I did not betray Soboma George. All those tales are attempts to cover the truth and cause trouble in Rivers State."
He said there were people bent on destabilizing the peace process.
"They won't succeed", the Vigilante leader stressed.
"I have shown I don't want any further trouble. I married the other day so I can settle down properly and plan a better future."
Ateke put the blame for what is being termed Soboma's betrayal on Dr Doris Fisher.
"It was Doris Fisher and after she had done so, she flew abroad",
A source close to Dr Fisher dismissed the claim.
The source said Fisher had nothing to do with Soboma's prolonged arrest.
"This is an attempt to link a decent person with the cult menace that rocked the stability of the state. If you ask me, it is an attempt to call a dog a bad name in order to hang it", the source added.
Fisher is yet to return to the country after she traveled for the holidays.
It is not clear which country she is at the moment.
She is believed to be holidaying in Britain.
Some US based sources say Fisher may have been spotted there.
They say she flew in from London where she had been.
The Telegraph is at the moment trying to establish a link with Fisher for her side of the story.
Friends of Fisher are worried over attempts to link her name to every thing.
The last time, a kite was flown she was gunning for the governorship but she promptly denied the claim from abroad
