The chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Port Harcourt Refinery depot, Chief Richard Orianwo has been suspended from office with immediate effect.
The chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Port Harcourt Refinery depot, Chief Richard Orianwo has been suspended from office with immediate effect.
A statement signed by the National President of IPMAN, Alhaji Habu Jajire dated January 24, 2005 captioned "Immediate suspension of IPMAN chairman Port Harcourt Deport from office and addressed to IPMAN zonal chairman East stated that the suspension was due to repeated gross violation of IPMAN constitution and gross abuse of office.
The suspension letter recalled the recent attempt of arbitrary imposition of N30,000.00 levy per truck on all products loaded at Port Harcourt Refinery deport without reference to the constitution or seeking NEC approval.
Again the suspension letter noted the arbitrary collection of N30,000.00 from all Port Harcourt based marketers and N5,000.00 from bridging marketers as development levy, without NEC approval as enshrined in the IPMAN constitution.
It added the unilateral increase in truck levy from N1,000.00 to N2,500.00 without NEC approval and not remitting the ratio as a result of the increase to both national and zone.
Non-remittance of even old ratio on truck levies as collected by IPMAN Port Harcourt to both National and zone. The suspension letter ordered the zonal chairman East to set up a caretaker committee to oversee the activities of the Association.
Meanwhile, the zonal chairman East of IPMAN, Chief Festus Onyima has set up an eleven member caretaker committee made of Chief Ben Pumbari Dimkpa as chairman, Chief Davies Okwuego Secretary, Eze Sam Chukwuma Legal Adviser, Mr. Chinedu Ukadike PRO, Chief Igwe Chukumah Auditor, Chief IK Offorkansi Assistant Secretary, Mr. Silas Onyima Treasurer, Mr. Erasmus Ekuma Financial Secretary, Mr. Obinda Chukwumah Technical Adviser while Prince Oby Obot and Mr. Dukumo West are Ex-officio members.
