At a time when the image of the Nigeria Police is at a low ebb, an officer who has distinguished himself was recently honoured by Ikeja-South Rotary club at an event held in Ikeja, Lagos.

Dressed in police ceremonial attire, the man of the moment, Inspector Johnson Oboh, sat beaming at everyone. At the presentation of the award, President of the club, Toyin Ehinmowo, said the award was inspired by his dedication to service and untiring efforts. Speaking in the same vein, a member of the club, Oliver Ogbonna, said, 'when his name was mentioned, everybody was happy. He is doing the job the way it should be done."

For that reason, the club gave him Outstanding Traffic Warden in Ikeja award.
Born on July 1, 1960, an elated Oboh expressed profound gratitude to members of the club for the honour done him. Oboh, whose duty post is on the Mobolaji Bank Anthony way enlisted in the Police Force as a traffic warden in 1983. In 1996, former Lagos State commissioner of Police Young Arebamen recommended him for promotion for his outstanding performance.

He has received awards from Agbara Grammar School and Lagos State Police command, among others. The awards from Ikeja South Rotary Club came with a token cash gift. The father of eight, whose wife and son were killed by armed robbers a few years ago, hails from Okpe Isoko in Delta State.
