World soccer governing body, FIFA, will be in attendance at the Congress of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), which is to hold from July 18 - 20.

This was the agreement after a meeting Wednesday, to further bring the impasse that has engulfed Nigerian football to an end.
The July 19 congress will dwell primarily on the harmonization of the Nigerian football family.

The meeting at NICON Hotel recognised Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima and the board of the NFA as arightful representatives of Nigerian football until the next elective congress.

The meeting mandated the Nigerian government to allow NFA access to their (NFA Glass House) office with immediate effect and take up again financial support of the NFA and its board.
Meanwhile, visiting FIFA Secretary-General, Urls Linsi said Nigeria remained a "soccer giant" in Africa in spite of its non-qualification for the Germany 2006 World Cup.

"Speaking about football, Nigeria, even without qualifying for World Cup, is ranked 12th and that means it's a giant in Africa," Linsi said during a courtesy visit to Nigerian Sports Minister, Seidu Sambawa in the Nigerian capital Abuja.

He stated that FIFA recognized the immense role played by Nigeria's youth in the global soccer arena.
"Your young stars play excellent football in the world," he added.
