The teenage sensation, whose intractable contract problem is nearing end with the reported agreement between the two gladiators in the case, Chelsea and Manchester United FCs, feared that his further exposure to the world media may inflame or derail the settlement.

Chief coach of the Under-23 team, Daniel ‘the Bull' Amokachi told Hotsportslive.com exclusively that he spoke with Obi and his agents and he reached an agreement that he would be better off left alone at this point in time.

'Besides, I know Obi and what he can do. What we are trying to do with this team is basically to try-out some of the players that we have not tested and build from there for the Olympic qualifiers.

'We will still give opportunity to several other Nigerian players that are qualified by scouting them out wherever they are, but the players spotted in this friendly games will form the bedrock," he added.

At the moment, about 20 players are in their Hotel Meteors camp in Lagos and Amokachie said two players would be dropped before the contingent leaves for Johannesburg, South Africa yesterday (Sunday).
The matches against their South African counterparts are slated for May 26 and 27
