Shocked by the verdict of the Senate, she broke down in tears over the death of the bill that would have given President Obasanjo and governors more years in office.
She had positioned herself in a vantage position in the gallery, hoping that the last minute horse trading would switch support for the bill to scale the massed opposition by anti-third term senators.
Senator Ita-Giwa was lost in thought when the motion to kill the bill sailed through as the Senate President hit the gavel.
She was speechless as she stepped out of the chamber, shouting. "You have killed 3rd term, you can now do your worst." She then burst into tears.
Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu looking dejected walked quietly away, while Senator Ibikunle Amosun could also not hide his sorrow.
It also took Senator Felix Ogunwale, another pro-3rd term senator several minutes to get up from his seat after the Senate President had left the chambers.
He sat with his head down, like someone who had just been sentenced to a jail term.
