Anti-bomb operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command on Tuesday, combed the premises of African Independent Television (AIT) in Abuja and the residence of its proprietor, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, in search of explosives, following a bomb scare late Monday.

FCT police commissioner, Mr. Lawrence Alobi, while confirming the development on Tuesday, at a press briefing, said the action was prompted by a formal complaint to the police by Dokpesi, chairman of Daar Communications Limited, to the effect that his life was under threat.
He said security had been beefed up both at the AIT complex and Dokpesi's residence situated on Kpaduwa Hill at the Asokoro district of Abuja, just as he assured visitors and residents of the FCT of adequate protection. He also revealed that no bomb was found at Dokpesi's residence or AIT complex.
Daily Sun learnt that Dokpesi's complaint to the police followed increased suspicious and unusual movements within his office and residence in Abuja in recent times.
Addressing newsmen on Tuesday, on the security situation in the FCT, the police commissioner said a total of 40 suspects, including three women were arrested within the last two weeks for various offences, including armed robbery, burglary and theft, as well as impersonation.
He said the command also recovered 22 vehicles and foiled 10 robbery incidents within the period. Also, recovered were five G3 rifles, 10 locally made pistol, 153 ammunition of various calibre, 36 cartridges, three Magazines, one toy gun, cutlasses, jack knives and other dangerous weapons.
Among those paraded were three women and a fake legal practitioner identified as James Eyo, from whom the police allegedly recovered a lawyer's wig, framed photograph where he dressed in full legal practitioner's attire, during a search at his residence.
Alobi said all the suspects would be arraigned in court on completion of investigations.
