Wild jubilation Tuesday enveloped the Minna home of former military president, Ibrahim Babangida shortly after the Senate threw out the constitution amendment bill seeking tenure elongation for President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Excited members of the ex-president's household and others who stormed the palatial home were in a festive mood congratulating one another immediately the Senate decision became public knowledge.
President Babangida had remained indoors, monitoring the debate on television.
Daily Sun learnt that immediately the decision was reached to throw out the bill, Babangida started receiving telephone calls from various parts of the country from his supporters apparently to show their happiness.
It was learnt that the jubilation was still going on when the immediate past head of state, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), drove into Babangida's home in a silver colour Mercedes Benz 500.
As soon as he arrived, Abdulsalami immediately went into a closed door meeting with Babangida. Some of his aides said their discussion was not unconnected with the development in the National Assembly.
