The President of National Association of Catholic Corpers, Ibadan, Oyo State, has narrated how robbers invaded the corp members' lodge and carted away their personal effects.
The victim, Imoh Chimezie, said they just returned from the orientation camp on that fateful day, only to be confronted by the dare-devil robbers.
He said the incident happened on a day they were tired and worn out, following strenuous exercise earlier in the day.
'Most of us managed to put down our bags and baggage, before jumping into our beds and slept off. The bandits swooped on us, having forced the door open.
They went straight into our rooms, shouting, ‘bring out your allawee and handsets!'
Chimezie said the bandits later ransacked the six rooms, brought out their bags and carted away money, handsets and NYSC discharge certificates.
'They brought cutlasses, guns, with charms tied to their waists. After the operation, there was pandemonium and shouts of help! help! But there was no help, even from the police," he said.
One of the victims, Onoh Nnenna ,was said to have sustained serious injuries during the robbery attack.
Chimezie, however, blamed the incident on lack of accommodation, which he said, made youth corps members to live in the midst of villagers.
'We don't have enough accommodation right now. It was a bitter experience. We want the public to assist us," he said.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Jonathan Johnson, while confirming the incident, described the bandits as hungry robbers, adding that nemesis would soon catch up with them.
