Indigenes of Umuda Isingwu, in Umuahia North Local Government, Abia State, are currently in shock following the mysterious death of a couple. The couple, Bonny Okewa Anyalewechi and his wife, Ngozi, had dinner and could not rise the next day.

A reliable family source told Daily Sun that Okenwa came back from an outing that fateful February 18, 2006 evening, to the warm welcome of his wife, who had prepared their dinner.

One of the woman's friends who saw her in the market that Saturday afternoon said she bought excess meat and was looking for someone with whom she would share it with.
She was quoted to have told her friend: "I am travelling and I don't want this meat to get spoiled in the freezer."

She had closed for business at the new shop she inherited from her elder brother's wife at No 2c Aba Road Umuahia, that Saturday afternoon and headed for home to prepare what has turned out to be the last supper.

When the couple did not come out the next morning, neighbours did not suspect anything until around noon. Relations of the couple were notified. The two families forced the door opened. The team was welcomed by smell of feaces and blood. A close look at the man showed that he vomited blood before giving up the ghost. Near his hand laid his hand set.
There was sign that Ngozi vomited blood and feaces were scattered on the rugged floor. She was lying on the double sofa in the parlour, dead.

Questions on the lips of Abians who heard the story are: 'Could Ngozi have poisoned the food which she ate with her husband that night? Could someone else have done? If it was a suicide, what must have prompted a young energetic couple who loved each other to take their own lives?"
Daily Sun learnt that the couple courted before they got married in 1995, and lived happily thereafter despite being childless.

Okenwa was born in 1959. He attended Umuda Community Primary School, Isingwu Community Secondary School and dropped out in class four before opting for career in draughtsmanship. He worked briefly with some architectural firms before setting up his own business. At the death of his father, he and his wife went home to live.
