Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of OSMI, Rotimi Pedro told Daily Sunsport that he was bringing the Eagles players and Coach Augustine Eguavoen, Skipper Austin Okocha as commentators, analyst and presenters to give Nigerians a sense of belonging as far as the World Cup is concerned.
He said his company, which had the right to broadcast the 64 matches to all, was set to give Nigerians faces of the Super Eagles players and their coaches as a means of helping them forget the non qualification for the World Cup.
The 64 matches that will be brought live to the homes of Nigerians will take 300 hours of programming noting that the way the coverage would be done this year, it would be very comprehensive.
He noted that though Nigerians will miss seeing the Eagles in action this time around but that they should take consolation in the fact that they have been watching the world cup before 1994 and that the over 40 million viewers will still enjoy themselves as all the actions will come to them.
He pointed out that since football was a global language, OSMI will give viewers the very best of coverage as arrangements have been made with all the television stations nation wide.
'Arrangements have been concluded with NTA, AIT and many other stations. There will be no exclusivity of match transmission but that all the stations have to ensure that all adverts are carried and where this is not adhered to, that station would be yanked off from further airing of the World Cup matches," he said.
OSMI he informed, had been working with FIFA since 2001 and it was due to their good work that they were awarded this year's rights. As part of plans to make the World Cup a memorable one, OSMI have also concluded arrangements to take journalists to the World Cup. Pedro also said that GSM users could watch the matches live on their handsets as long as they have GPRS.
