NFA confirm Siasia as U-23 coach


The Nigerian Football Association (NFA) yesterday jettisoned the appointments of coaches made by the Acting Secretary, Fanny Amun and made new pronouncements for all Nigeria's national teams at the end of their meeting held in Abuja.

Austin Eguavoen, who led the Super Eagles to a bronze medal at the just-concluded African Cup of Nations, retains his job as chief coach of the Eagles and will be assisted by Daniel Amokachi, Emeka Ezeugo and Ike Shorunmu.

Samson Siasia, who led the Flying Eagles to the World Youth Championship silver last year, has been moved up to the Under-23 team and will be assisted by Stanley Eguma of Sharks, Issa Ladan Bosso and Best Ogedengbe.

Julius Berger of Abeokuta chief coach, Fatai Amao takes over the Flying Eagles (Under-20) with Mutiu Adepoju, Adams Usman of Keffi United and Alloy Agu as assistants.

The Under-17 team will be handled by Ben Iroha, who will be assisted by former Super Eagles captain Henry Nwosu (MON), Abdulahi Makaba and Ifeanyi Okeke.

Jossy Lad, who assisted Sam Okpodu to the 2003 Women's World Cup, returns to the Super Falcons as chief coach and would have Ntiero Effiom Ntiero, Ann Chiejine and Musa Husseini as assistants.
Felix Ibe would be in charge of the Falconets and will be assisted by Napoleon Aluma of Delta United, Fancy Ewulu and Mudashiru Demola.

According to the NFA chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, who signed the release after the meeting, the board of the NFA in it's effort at building a virile football foundation and to develop the game in all ramifications in the country, approved the list of national coaches in the various category of the nation's teams.

He said further that the board would in due course appoint coordinators and scouting officers for the national teams to monitor and scout for our players within and outside the country.
