Fayose wins Gov of the Year Award


Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose has again added another feather to his cap as he was honoured with the award of Governor of the year by City People Media group.

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose has again added another feather to his cap as he was honoured with the award of Governor of the year by City People Media group.

Governor Fayose clinched the award ahead of Governor Bola Tinubu of Lagos State and Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State who were both nominated alongside the Ekiti State helmsman for the prestigious Award. Fayose also won the Best Governor in the South-West at the ceremony held at the Expo Centre, Eko Hotel and Suits, Victoria Island, Lagos. According to the publisher of City People Magazine, Mr. Seye Kehinde, Fayose was considered among others for the prestigious award because of his performance in the last three years as governor of the state.
The auditorium which was filled to capacity with many important personalities gracing the occasion, launched into applause when achievements of Fayose was reeled out.

Responding after receiving the award of Governor of the Year, Fayose said he was dedicating the award to the common man in Ekiti State and Nigeria. He promised to contribute his best to the service of humanity.

Other governors who won awards at the ceremony include Dr. Sam Egwu of Ebonyi State (Best Governor, South-East), Chief James Ibori of Delta State (Best Governor, South-South), Alhaji Saminu Turaki of Jigawa State (Best Governor North- West), Rev Jolly Nyame (Best Governor North-East) and Kwara State Governor, Dr. Bukola Saraki (Best Governor North -Central).

Several prominent Nigerians who won Life Time Awards at the 9th City People's Awards for Excellence include wife of the Vice President, Chief (Mrs.) Titi Atiku Abubakar; wife of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu; Elder statesman, Chief Anthony Enahoro; Doyen of Nigerian Journalism, Alhaji Babatunde Jose; Juju singer, King Sunny Ade and Evangelist Ebenezer Obey.


The event was attended by Ekiti State deputy governor, Chief (Mrs.) Biodun Olujimi; members of the National Assembly, members of the Ekiti State Executive council; Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Obas, Oba Adedapo Popoola; other traditional rulers from the state, captains of industry as well as the crème of the showbiz industry.
