Immediate past governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chris Ngige is pointing fingers at Aso Rock as the brain behind the mob attack on Vice- President Atiku Abubakar in Lagos at the weekend, and warned that the situation could escalate into further violence if President Olusegun Obasanjo continues his policy of intolerance.

"These people are lawless. They encourage mobs to attack individuals and government institutions like they did in my state.
They refuse to obey contrary court orders and rather than govern effectively are going after those who offer genuine constructive criticism", Ngige stated in an interview with Daily Sun in America.
The former governor who had a running battle with the presidency, said if Aso Rock thinks he will fade away from the political scene, it is sorely mistaken.
"I will be back after some rest and spending time with my family. By the grace of God, I am medically fit and will contribute my quota towards uplifting the country," he stated. Dr. Ngige, who is in the United States for medical check up, told Daily Sun he never left the country in disguise to escape being arrested as insinuated by some people in the country.
"I did not shave my beard. I was not in any disguise. I have committed no crime and cannot sneak out of the country as is being speculated. I did not leave on a chartered flight but on British Airways, so those peddling such rumors can now take a rest," he said.
On the future of Anambra State, Ngige said he will always be available to offer some advice if asked to, by Gov. Peter Obi. " I left the state with enough human and material resources to reach even greater heights. When I took over from Gov. Mbadinuju, the state's account was in the red with demoralized citizenry and work force. But we turned that around and the state is in a better shape than we met it."
Dr. Ngige asked Gov. Obi to look forward if he is to make his mark in the state.
"When I took over, I was not searching for what my predecessor did wrong. So if Gov. Obi is concentrating on what I did wrong, he will miss the mark. He should rather concentrate his energy on moving the state forward. We have created a momentum and broken the myth that the state cannot be governed. But if the resources I left behind are not enough, then Gov. Obi should generate more", he stated.
He told Daily Sun he bears no grudge against anyone over his fate. "It was God's will that I will serve for the period I led the state and I did the best I could under the circumstance, but I am happy I made some modest achievements, but, it is for the people to pass judgment on my accomplishments, " he stated.
At least twice, while he was in office, Government House, Awka, as well as other public buildings in Anambra State, were attacked and destroyed by those opposed to Ngige, believed to have been sponsored by his estranged godfather, Chief Chris Uba. The assailants, however, got away with it, because it was believed they enjoyed the propetection of those in power at Aso Rock.
The deposed governor now says Aso Rock knows about the much condemned attack on Atiku in Lagos at the weekend, a developoment which both the Federal Government, and the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) have condemned in strong terms.
