"It is a devastating experience, showing the reality of the power of death no matter one's affluence and wealth in life", he said.
The journalist revealed that the mother's death was devastating because, the woman cooked sumptuous fresh fish soup for the family and died six hours later.
"Death is powerful. It is a spoiler. I never thought my mother will die in the next 30 years. She was as agile as when I grew up to know her. She was such a pleasant woman and mother. We, her children owe her a lot, which we thought we would pay back, but death did not allow us.
"With her saw-milling business, she made sure that she saw all of us through the walls of university. It was shocking news, which I did not believe until I saw mama's lifeless body. As a Muslim, I know it is God that giveth and takeh, but it is painful that death did not allow me and my siblings to show a bit of appreciation to her. It is an untimely death", Muzediq, the second son and third born of his late mother said.
According to the bereaved, his mother was hale and hearty before her death. "In fact, she cooked a fresh fish soup on Wednesday night before she went to bed from where she did not wake up again. When I saw her corpse on the bed before she was buried, it was as if Mama was still sleeping; still gentle in death as in life."
Asked the lessons he learnt from his mother, Musediq said: "I learnt everything good from her. I learnt honesty, transparency, diligence, hardwork and other good virtues from her".
"She was a courageous fighter. A woman who dares where others run. She was a saviour of sort, a woman who always fought for justice until her death.
He said his late mother, who worked as a saw miller until her death, was a member of the disciplinary committee in Sagamu. "The only female member of the no-nonsense committee in Sagamu. To her, it does not matter whose ox is gored in the fight against oppression and injustice. She would be remembered for that."
