Okoroji vs Charly Boy: Judgment Feb 18


Judgment has been fixed for February 18 by an Ikeja High Court judge, Justice Morenike Obadina, in a suit involving Chief Tony Okoroji and Mr. Charles Oputa a.k.a. Charly Boy, past and current Presidents of Performing Musician Employers Associa-tion of Nigeria (PM-AN).

Judgment has been fixed for February 18 by an Ikeja High Court judge, Justice Morenike Obadina, in a suit involving Chief Tony Okoroji and Mr. Charles Oputa a.k.a. Charly Boy, past and current Presidents of Performing Musician Employers Associa-tion of Nigeria (PM-AN).

Okoroji, plaintiff in a matter which began last year, had dragged Charly Boy to court for making allegedly malicious and libelous statements against him concerning his tenure as PMAN President from 1987 - 1993. He claimed Charly Boy described him as a thief and fraudulent, having allegedly mis-appropriated a sum of N23 million, belonging to PMAN during his tenure.

When the matter came up before Justice Obadina, neither Charly Boy nor his counsel, Mr. Fred Agbaje was around, though Okoroji, who recently lost his mansion in Akowonjo, Lagos to fire was in court alongside his counsel, Mr. Obanimi Allen-Anthony.

Allen-Anthony, who claimed to have filed all necessary papers in compliance with the new rules on procedure, told court the defendant was also served, though he refused to show up.

He sought to move a motion for judgment in the matter, which was granted and adopted, though Justice Obadina informed him of a letter written by Agbaje, intimating court of Charly Boy's absence due to his appearance at a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt
