Following the discovery of the corpse of a female ex-banker and trader (name withheld) on a heap of refuse in Osogbo, last Saturday, the Osun State Police Command said it has arrested her husband and five others.
Speaking with our correspondent in a telephone interview on Tuesday, the Acting Commissioner of Police, Mr. Femi Akintemi, said the six suspects were helping the police in the ongoing investigation into the murder of the middle-aged mother of five.
According to the commissioner, it is too early in the day to narrow down the scope of investigation, saying that those arrested remained guiltless until investigations and the law court proved otherwise.
Akintemi gave the reassurance that the four-man team of detectives he raised to look into the case was up to the task, adding that justice would not be perverted.
Explaining that the team of detectives would submit its report to him this month, Akintemi said the noose was closing in on the suspects.
He said, 'We are making progress on the issue. We are being careful not to reveal too much so that we do not spoil the case."
