Daniel Amokachi's appointment as coach of Nigeria's Olympic football team has been terminated.
Special assistant (technical) to the Minister of Sports and Social Development, Alhassan Yakmut, said yesterday (Monday) that the Minister, Dr. Saidu Sambawa, has cancelled the appointments of coaches for the various national teams as announced by acting secretary general of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) Fanny Amun.
Amokachi was announced as head coach of the Under-23 national football team last month by Amun in a wave of appointments that have been enmeshed in controversy.
Yakmut said: "The minister has annulled all the appointments announced by the NFA and all the positions will be advertised.
"Competent hands will be given opportunities to vie for the coaching jobs.
"This is not restricted to only the NFA, but all the sports associations under the Federal Ministry of Sports and Social Development."
It was also learnt that the job of Super Eagles coach, Augustine Eguavoen, will also be advertised.
