A middle-aged pastor died mysteriously in the early hours of Monday after reportedly spending the night with a widow.
The sudden death of the pastor in the house of the widow, said to be his lover of many years, is now a subject of investigation by the Anambra State Police Command.
Our correspondent learnt that the man of God (names withheld), before his death, shepherded a church in Ogidi, near Onitsha in Idemili-North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
It was gathered that he retired to the house of the widow after the completion of church activities on Sunday night only to be found dead on Monday morning.
Detectives at the command confided in our correspondent that they were working on the clue that the pastor might have died due to exhaustion after a night of intensive activities.
The corpse of the deceased was said to have been deposited at a morgue in Onitsha, while the woman reportedly disappeared from her house following the discovery that her lover had given up the ghost.
The Police Public Relations officer at the command, Mr. Kolapo Shof-oluwe, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Monday, said the police were looking for the widow, whose whereabouts was unknown.
Shofoluwe told our correspondent over the telephone, 'We are already investigating the cause of the pastor's death. His body has been taken to a mortuary in Onitsha.We want an autopsy to be carried out on it so that the exact cause of his death can be established.
'For now, we can attribute the incident to sudden and unnatural death. We have not found the woman. She is a widow and the pastor died in her house."
