JAMB introduces on-line registration for MPCE candidates

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the introduction of on-line registration as a mode of application for candidates.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the introduction of on-line registration as a mode of application for candidates.

From yesterday, March 13, 2006, candidates seeking admission into Monotechnics, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education for the 2006/2007 session are advised to purchase scratch cards from designated banks and centres and register on-line.

The board which had worked vigorously since 2002 to exploit the potentials of information and communications technology to the fullest in its operation and service delivery, came up with this innovation to ease the problems of registration experienced by candidates.

At a meeting with organisations involved in the sales of JAMB application documents in Lagos on Thursday, Director of Computer Services, Alhaji Abdulraheem Adeniran said the board decided to start with the MPCE candidates because of the low number of entries to enable it tackle problems experienced with the new method in subsequent examinations.

Speaking on the availability of Internet facilities in rural areas, he said there is no local government area in Nigeria where Internet facilities are not available for blank forms to help those who are not computer literate.

For candidates who may have difficulties uploading their entries, he explained that "the usual awareness being given to our staff is being done so that candidates would be assisted in the office."

According to him, there is also provision for enquries where JAMB can interact with candidates adding that candidates can also receive their results on-line through their E-mail addresses.

To make registration very easy, JAMB according to the Director of Computer services has installed electronic copy of brochure and syllabus to guide candidates. He explained that the method is designed in such a way that all requirements can be obtained from the system.

Another advantage of the on-line registration is that it eased the problem of logistic and closing date for entries.
He urged candidates to take advantage of the new method and do it the way it should be done.
The new method is managed by Sigmach Technologies.
